People tell me to write a lot. When I walk up to a friend and say something like, "I was just in the bathroom, and the girl in the stall next to me sat down and said 'Aw shit'," they tell me I should write a comic about it. Well, first they give me that "why-do-you-always-start-conversations-this-way" look, but then they tell me to write a comic about it. Other things I've been told to write include entire books about things like attraction, relationships, how to be a good person, and feelings. Nevermind that I've already written a graphic novel about all of those things. I have apparently been blessed with some magical ability to turn everything into comics and artwork. If I take a walk around the apartment building I live in, I guarantee you I can come up with at least three different things to draw or write about. I'm not telling you this to brag; I'm telling you this because I am positive that you can do it, too, and I want to take some time out of my life to show you just how I do it. The best way I know how to do that is to do it and show you examples. It is very lucky for me that I have been doing this since I was tiny. It is also very lucky that I have been given hands, a computer, and a stable internet connection, because I can bring that gift everyone tells me I have into others' lives with those things. I feel like I'm helping people, and my friends get what they've been asking for. Everyone's happy. Art has always been a part of my life. I haven't always been good at it, but I have always been doing it, and that is the most important part of considering myself an artist. Well, and also getting paid for it a few times. If you want to learn more about me, you can click here. I'm positive you'll also learn more in the subsequent posts. There's also a ton of really personal information in my graphic novel The Adventures of Omnicakes, which can be downloaded in .PDF form via google docs (at least until I hear from ComiXology about publishing it). Now, if you'll excuse me, my spider roommate just invited her boyfriend over, so I should leave these two alone. And remember, grapefruits are not for eating; they are for tattooing. |
